Colour

In reality rough diamonds are almost never absolutely pure and often contain colour or hue, depending on the hue and intensity of a diamond's coloration, a diamond's colour can either detract from or enhance its value. For example, most white diamonds are reduced in value when more yellow hue is detectable, while intense pink or blue diamonds can be dramatically more valuable. Diamonds that are of the very highest purity are totally colourless, and appear a bright white. The majority of diamonds that are mined are in a range of white to pale yellow this is known as the normal colour range, D being the purest through to Z. This can be seen in the chart below and at Mydiamonds we only carry diamonds with a colour rating of J or less.
